The stories that stay with us from childhood have a way of shaping everything that comes after.

I’m a Baltimore-based artist best known for my painted paper collages that explore childhood, community, and race. My work is rooted in everyday moments—kids at play, quiet neighborhood scenes, shared experiences that might seem ordinary but carry deep emotional weight. I’m inspired by the celebratory visual language of artists like Romare Bearden, Faith Ringgold, and Johnny Lee Gray, whose work affirms the beauty and complexity of Black life.

I grew up in a public housing neighborhood in South Carolina, and those early memories continue to guide my practice. Drawing from personal experience, I create narratives that reflect both the joy and the challenges of Black American communities, often centering children as symbols of resilience, possibility, and continuity. Through layered painted surfaces, paper collage, and image transfers, I aim to capture the texture of lived experience—honoring the power of place, memory, and identity.

A two-time recipient of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Fellowship (FY21 and FY22) and a DC Art Bank grantee. My original works have been acquired for public art collections in DC public schools, government buildings, hotels, libraries, and universities. I also illustrated the children’s book A Beard Like My Dad.
My art has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications, including The Washington Post, Contemporary Collage Magazine, Black Collagists by Teri Henderson. Through a distinct visual language, I attempt to expand the boundaries of collage and narrative art, offering a poignant, joyful, and reflective lens on African American life and resilience.
